Education Resources

These educational resources support KS2/3 pupils in exploring the Marcus Rashford Wall of Hope themes of ‘Setting the Scene’, ‘Reaction’ and ‘Response’. The resources are focused around community, place, racism and how we can deal with disappointment. In addition, Exploring the Archive takes a look at the use of the digital resource and provides insight into what an archive is and how to create your own.

Linked below are external resources by experts in race and anti-racism learning resources. These organisation are not affiliated with this project, but do provide experiential insight and expertise in the areas of race, anti-racism and how we think about global majority communities and cultures.

Setting the Scene takes a look at the events that led to the creation of the Marcus Rashford Mural, what a role model is and how we can look at a place to tell a story about the people who live there.

Setting the Scene is designed to explore how we see the people and places where we live.

Reaction looks at how we can manage our reactions to situations where we may be disappointed with something, including that which is outside of our control.

Reaction is designed around personal reflection and responsibility for our actions.

Response takes a look at our role in the community and how we can make a positive impact on those around us. The community in Withington responded with solidarity when the mural was defaced and Marcus and his teammates received racist abuse.

Response is designed to explore how we think about our communities, our place in them, and the actions we can take together.

Exploring the Archive takes a look at what an archive is and acts as a guide to explore the Marcus Rashford Mural Tributes collection.

Exploring the Archive is designed to give an overview of what archives are, their importance to recording and understanding past events, and how they can be used to tell stories about people and places.
