Digital Resource
Welcome to Moorfield St, Withington, Manchester, UK. In 2020, street artist AkseP19 was commissioned by community street art project Withington Walls to create a mural right here of a local hero.
Known for his skills on the pitch, Marcus Rashford was also a hero for campaigning to end child poverty and lobbying the UK Government to feed hungry schoolchildren during the Covid-19 pandemic and beyond.
In 2021, after Marcus was racially abused and the mural vandalised, the local community responded with thousands of messages of love, support and solidarity against racism.
This resource, commissioned by Manchester Libraries, Withington Walls and The Space, shares a curated collection of 100 of those messages along with voices of the people of Withington.
